The Patient Appliances Department provides a range of appliances, such as knee supports, stockings, wigs and pocketed bras to patients to help them with mobility, walking or to improve general appearance.

What conditions does the department treat?

We provide a range of appliances to help patients with conditions, including:

  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) – a blood clot in one of the deep veins in the body
  • Leg length discrepancy
  • Osteoarthritis (OA)
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Flat feet
  • Alopecia
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) – a condition that causes pain, numbness and a tingling sensation in the hand and fingers
  • Back pain

  • AFO (ankle foot orthosis)

  • lumbar supports
  • knee supports

How can you get a referral?

We only accept referrals from QEH consultants and physiotherapists and GPs in our catchment area.
