Acute Oncology Services

The Acute Oncology Service (AOS) team provide specialist hospital inpatient services at both University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. They aim to see patients within 24 hours of referral.

The team provide support for cancer patients admitted with acute or immediate complications of their cancer or chemotherapy treatment.  They ensure that patients who develop an acute cancer-related or cancer treatment problem receive the care they need quickly in the most appropriate setting.

The AOS team also supports patients who may have a diagnosis of cancer of unknown primary (CUP), liaising closely with Guy’s and St Thomas’ CUP teams who offer treatments for this rare type of cancer.
