Epilepsy
Queen Elizabeth Hospital Paediatric Epilepsy Service overview
The Paediatric Epilepsy service accepts referrals for Children and Young People living in the London Boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley, aged under 16 years old who have a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of epilepsy. The service aims to review patients in clinic annually at a minimum. We run up to four Consultant Epilepsy clinics per week.
The Paediatric Epilepsy service works closely with Tertiary Paediatric Epilepsy services at Evelina London Children’s Hospital and Kings College Hospital, London. A joint complex epilepsy clinic is held with visiting Paediatric Epileptologist, Dr Ruth Williams from Evelina six times per year. This specialist clinic is for children and young people who meet the criteria for a Paediatric Neurology review.
Aims
We aim to provide a prompt, comprehensive, specialist service for young people with epilepsy to make sure that each individual need is met. Treatment plans are individually tailored for all patients and are designed to enable each young person to fulfill their potential.
We aim to empower our patients and their families by providing as much information as we can about epilepsy and the different treatment options. We are committed to clear diagnostic evaluation and the effective management of all types of seizure disorders.
