Inpatient Services

We provide inpatient services for children and young people at University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Both wards care for children and young people from 0 to 16 years of age but also see children up to the age of 18 if they are still under the care of a paediatrician. All of our nursing staff are trained in caring for children, and we also have play specialists and school teachers within the team.

Both inpatient wards are supported by a Hospital at Home team (H@H) and work closely with the children’s community nursing teams in each borough to ensure children and young people spend less time in hospital. We also work closely with other departments to ensure the experience of children and young people is a positive one.
