Andrew graduated with a 1st class honours degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Teesside and holds an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. This led to membership of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP). This is a group of 1100 members worldwide who have undertaken ‘extensive post graduate study and reached a recognised standard of excellence in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy’ (https://macpweb.org/home).
Andrew has worked over the past 10 years in private practice and within the NHS. In addition he has worked in elite sport including the Irish Rugby Team and the Irish Female Cricket Team.
Andrew is an Extended Scope Practitioner (ESP) in the NHS specialising in back pain. The role requires high levels of assessment and treatment skills for complex patients. It also requires the ordering of imaging, onward referral to other departments and liaising with orthopaedic doctors. He is therefore aware when patients may need further interventions or assessment for their optimum outcome.
His approach is evidence based and he aims to establish the cause of the dysfunction, help you to understand the issue and treat the source.
Andrew uses a combination of hands-on treatment, education and functional exercise individualised to each client to achieve the best possible outcome.
