Statement about the recent unrest in the UK
We are writing today to condemn the awful scenes of street violence and destruction that we have seen over the last few days. We as a Trust cannot accept the abuse of any of our colleagues for reasons of their faith, race or any other characteristic.
In 2023 we created an anti-discrimination pledge, which staff voluntarily signed up to in order to demonstrate their commitment to stand up against all forms of discrimination. We are proud to have colleagues from over 200 countries as part of TeamLGT, and that so many of our staff made the choice to declare their support.
As ever and in accordance with our core Trust values of respect, compassion and inclusion, any violence, racism and abuse – from colleagues or patients and visitors – is not part of the job and has no place at LGT whatsoever.
We want everyone here - staff, patients and visitors - to feel safe on our sites and on their journeys to and from us. Support is available to staff members, and details of how to report and escalate incidents have been shared with our colleagues.
Thank you to everyone in our community for your continued support for TeamLGT.
