Santa's Christmas Eve visit
On Christmas Eve, Father Christmas paid a visit to all the children's wards and departments at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL). He spread cheer to our young patients with Christmas music, bubbles, and two big sleighs with six bags full of lovely gifts!
The children received a range of presents from stories, a colouring books and pens, chocolate coins, a cuddly teddies, and a special present that they got to choose from Santa's bag!
We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who kindly donated including: Lewisham Tavern's Customers, Design Bridge and Partners, Children's Hospital Pyjamas, Fairy Bricks, Abbey wood Community Church, many friends and family, and many anonymous givers who kindly responded to the toy appeal. The children's departments are incredibly thankful!
Miriam Willats, Health Play Specialist, at our UHL Children's Day Care Unit, shared: "It's my husband who is dressed up. He came on his day off work to be Santa and should be back next Christmas. Santa gave gifts to every baby, child and teen that we saw: the smiles and pure excitement on their faces was so lovely!
"A huge thank you to all the friends, families, shops, companies, and churches, who donated such lovely gifts to us here at UHL.
"We loved spending Christmas Eve bringing joy, and feel very blessed to be able bring happiness to our babies, children, young people, siblings, parents, carers, visitors and staff on Christmas Eve. It wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of so many!"
