Patient portal launches today
We are thrilled to announce that the digital letters phase of the Patient Portal project has officially launched today. This means that our patients will now receive their Outpatient appointment letters digitally for the first time, providing them with immediate access to important information and eliminating delays associated with traditional postage. By offering this new digital option, we hope to reduce the number of missed appointments and improve overall patient satisfaction.
Lewisham Greenwich NHS Trust will be sending SMS text messages from the phone number 07860 039092. We are using the DrDoctor platform to communicate with our patients about their appointments and to inform them that a digital letter is available for viewing.
Eventually, the Patient Portal programme will integrate with our three main Patient Administration Systems: iCare (acute), Rio (community, mental health, and children), and Soliton (radiology). This integration will enable patients receiving care across services offered by Lewisham Greenwich NHS Trust to access core features.
Patients will be able to view personal information, check their hospital appointments, and ultimately play a more active role in managing their healthcare.
The Lewisham Greenwich NHS Trust Patient Portal is funded by the national NHS Wayfinder programme. The Wayfinder programme enables NHS Digital to provide digital services to NHS patients in England through the NHS App and the NHS website. Patients will be able to securely view summary details of their scheduled secondary care appointments with acute NHS Trusts and access further details about those appointments from the NHS App.
Further functionality is planned to be added for patients in summer 2024, including allowing patients to view their appointment details.
The launch of the digital pre-appointment letters means a significant milestone in our efforts to empower patients to take control of their healthcare journey.
