NHS heroes to star in BBC London Marathon coverage

Staff from Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust’s running club are playing a starring role in the virtual London marathon this Sunday (4 October), with the BBC planning on providing live coverage as they set off on their fundraising effort.

Jo Gennari, General Manager of Specialist Medicine at University Hospital Lewisham and head coach of the running club, “TeamLGT”, says: “It’s really exciting that the BBC is helping to showcase our work by filming members of the running club. About 20 of us – including doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals and admin staff – are proud to be taking part to celebrate all our fantastic NHS colleagues at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. We are running in small groups of under six people to meet infection control guidelines, and are hoping to raise £10,000 for our NHS Trust charity.”

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust’s charity supports initiatives that benefit patients and staff and which fall outside normal NHS provision – such as additional psychological support for staff .

The BBC is planning to film TeamLGT as they set off on the 26.2 miles on Sunday morning from Ladywell Fields, next to University Hospital Lewisham, at around 10am.
