January’s Employee of the Month
Congratulations to Marian Bonsu, Lead Haemoglobinopathy Clinical Nurse Specialist at University Hospital Lewisham who has been chosen as our Employee of the Month for January 2022.
Julie Baker, Macmillan Head of Nursing for Cancer and Haematology explained why she nominated her: “Marian is a fantastic example of a strong, positive and inspirational leader. Apart from leading the Haemoglobinopathy Nursing Service, she has continuously stepped up to support other services in Haematology when asked to do so. She always responds to any challenges in a calm, helpful way and delivers the highest standard of care, whilst ensuring her staff are always well- supported and treated with respect by everyone.”
“Marian always goes the extra mile and has clearly made a difference to the lives of our patients and colleagues through her hard work and dedication.”
A surprised Marian said: “I am lost for words and so shocked. I was not expecting this, but I am really proud and honoured to be recognised for the Employee of the Month.”
Paulette West, Helpdesk and Office Manager of Vinci Facilities who helped chair this month’s judging panel commented: “We chose Marian for her strong and inspirational leadership. The way that she encourages others to respond to challenges themselves in a way that they feel supported, is a credit to her approach and temperament in dealing and managing her staff. Alongside everything else that she does, she is also studying to further develop herself, to help her colleagues by taking on additional patients enabling them to focus on their more complex patients.”
Julie Baker, Macmillan Head of Nursing for Cancer and Haematology congratulated Marian and presented her with a certificate. Marian was also later presented with a fruit basket, generously donated by Hasan who runs the fruit stall at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
