Help us manage demand in our A&Es
Our hospitals are extremely busy at the moment. Please do come in if you have a planned appointment or if you are in need of urgent medical attention because of issues such as chest pain, blacking out, broken limbs or serious blood loss.
If you need medical advice, but it’s not an emergency, please use the right service to get the care you need. This will be quicker and safer for you and your family and will help us to see patients who are facing urgent medical issues as quickly as we can.
Here’s where you can get help:
- For minor illnesses, such as coughs and colds, headaches or stomach upsets go to a local pharmacist
- If you are feeling unwell or anxious or unsure about your symptoms, call NHS 111 or visit the NHS 111 website
- Persistent symptoms, chronic pain or a long term conditions, make an appointment with your GP
If you do come to one of our Emergency Departments, we will assess you as quickly as possible. If we feel you need to stay, we will aim to treat you as soon as possible, based on the urgency of your clinical need but you will experiences waits throughout your time with us.
If you could be seen in a more appropriate setting, we will advise you on the most appropriate place to go and ask you to seek treatment there. If you ignore this advice and decide to stay, please be aware that you will waiting a long time to be seen.
