February’s LGT Star of the Month

Congratulations to Aida Popescu, Lead Maternity Support Worker and Transitional Care Team member, who has been named our LGT Star of the Month for February.
Aida was nominated for the Stardust Award by Andreea Cojocaru, Senior Clinical Pharmacist at LGT, who personally experienced the exceptional care provided by Aida during her perinatal period as a patient.
Here’s why she deserves this recognition: "I would like to nominate Aida for her exceptional professionalism, dedication, and patient-centered care. I first met her in the Day Assessment Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, when I was advised to have an early induction at 36 weeks. Aida provided outstanding care, not only addressing my physical health but also offering emotional support. She reassured both me and my husband, making sure we felt safe and prepared for the challenges ahead.
"What set Aida apart was her holistic approach, caring for both my physical and emotional wellbeing. She always took the time to listen, offering comforting words and advice.
"After my emergency C-section, she visited me on the postnatal ward, offering support and ensuring I had time to rest. She made me feel empowered, valued and heard. Her kindness and thoughtfulness made a difficult time much more manageable. Aida's attention and care had a profound impact on my family and me, and I am incredibly grateful for everything she did. Her support made a world of difference during our perinatal journey, and I cannot thank her enough."
Aida was congratulated by her colleagues and presented with her certificate, a £100 voucher from LGT, and a fruit basket donated by Hasan Er, who runs the fruit stall at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Aida Popescu, Lead Maternity Support Worker and Transitional Care Team member, said: "I am honoured to receive this award, and it serves as a reminder of the important work and role we have as Maternity Support Workers. It reminds me that I am, and always will be, here to support both our patients and colleagues at LGT."
Jessie Gale, Vinci Facilities Manager, who chaired this month’s judging panel, commented: “Aida deserves this award for her caring, passion, and professionalism. She provides exceptional comfort to patients and handles her vital, responsible role with dedication. Aida consistently goes above and beyond for patients, families, and colleagues, offering support, listening to concerns, and leaving a lasting impression on all who work with her.”
