February’s Employee of the Month
Congratulations to Christene Montaque, Healthcare Assistant, Urgent Care Centre at University Hospital Lewisham who has been chosen as our Employee of the Month for February 2022.
Christene was nominated by her managers, Sarah Adkins, Lead Emergency Care Practitioner and Jennifer Butler, Lead Emergency Clinical Practitioner. Their comments included: “Christene is a valuable and trusted member of our team. She has worked as a Porter in our Trust, and as a Healthcare Assistant on a ward, but she has really developed herself in the Urgent Care Centre. She is so skilled at plastering and wound care that she has been asked to teach staff in another department and supports everyone in her practice.”
“We are constantly impressed with her level of commitment, compassion and adaptability to the ever-changing circumstances in Urgent Care. She is always willing to help out to ensure the department’s pressures are reduced wherever possible. We have been impressed with her forward thinking – she often pre-empts our patients’ and the team’s needs.”
“Her patient advocacy is excellent and her standards of care are superb. She always goes above and beyond, and I think this should be recognised.”
A surprised Christene explained: “I am very shocked right now, but it is lovely to be recognised and shown appreciation! I would like to thank everyone that I work with in the Urgent Care Centre for their continued support.”
Michelle Acquah, our Patient Experience Manager who helped chair this month's judging panel commented: “There was a lot of discussion and we have unanimously nominated Christine as Employee of the Month for going above and beyond. There were numerous examples to support this nomination. Some of the key ones which stood out for us were Christene being a team player, a patient advocate, and someone who can confidently raise issues and concerns on behalf of patients.
“She has also organised new workspaces, which has resulted in greater efficiency, and she also does great work equipping patients to care for themselves after discharge. Christene is definitely living the values of our Trust.”
Maria Green, Clinical Nurse Practitioner, congratulated Christene and presented her with her certificate. Christene was also later presented with a fruit basket, generously donated by Hasan who runs the fruit stall at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
