Why Choose Us?
If you need to go to hospital to see a specialist, you have the right to choose which hospital you're referred to by your GP.
You can choose a hospital according to what matters most to you, whether it’s location, infection rates, waiting times, patient feedback, clinical performance or anything else.
We will update the performance section with the latest information on how we are performing as an organisation. You can also contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Some key points to consider are that:
We continue to provide vital services in Lewisham and Greenwich
University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital provide vital services to local communities. This will not change following the formation of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust on 1 October 2013. We will continue to serve local people and to provide the care which you need. As well as hospital services, this includes continuing to run community services in Lewisham which were previously provided by Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust.
There is easy access to our services
All of our hospitals and community sites are very easy to get to by public transport, and are served by a number of buses and trains. Thirteen different buses stop outside or close to Lewisham Hospital, and 7 buses provide access to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
In Lewisham, where we also run community services, we are providing more services outside of hospital – increasingly in patients own homes.
We are committed to treating patients in the right environment
We realise how important being treated in the right environment is. Patients at both Lewisham Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital benefit from new and improved facilities. In May 2013, a new Children's Cancer Ward was opened at Queen Elizabeth Hospital – a modern hospital built in just 2001. In 2012, a £12 million refurbishment project was completed at Lewisham Hospital to improve the environment patients are treated in.
Providing specialist services
We provide a wide range of specialist clinic across our hospitals and community sites. These include a number of clinics that serve the whole of South East London , and some tha receive referrals from across the UK.
Listening to patients and partners
Of course, improvements should not be measured through bricks and mortar alone. Our approach will be to listen to patients and work with GPs and other partners to develop and improve services. If you would like to get involved, we want to hear from you and hope you will join us as a member.
