Stroke and TIA Services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital

outside QEH

Stroke services have now been transferred to Lewisham Hospital, where a new 24 bed stroke ward has recently opened. This service change is being piloted and will be reviewed in spring 2015.

The move is part of our on-going commitment to improving services across the Trust. By transferring the services to one site we can improve patient care by providing increased consultant cover and enhanced rehabilitation facilities for patients, including an on-ward rehabilitation gym, kitchen and group area. The extra beds at Queen Elizabeth Hospital will now be used for A&E patients who need to be admitted.

We have made these changes in time for winter for to improve patient safety and the service will be reviewed in the Spring. If you have any queries or concerns about your own care, or the care of a family member or friend, please contact us on 0208 333 3000 ext. 8195 for the Beech ward or ext. 6534 for the Maple ward.
