If you are an artist or musician, or seeking employment or volunteering opportunities with Arts Connect, please read the information below carefully before you get in touch, to ensure that what you have to offer is currently needed.

If you decide to apply, please indicate clearly which programme strand listed below you are interested in (do not send CVs and promotional material without stating this as they may be overlooked). Please do not send large files by email.

Exhibiting at Elixir Gallery Queen Elizabeth

Elixir Gallery at Queen Elizabeth Woolwich presents four exhibitions each year. If you are an individual artist, or represent a group, school or college and would like to offer or propose an exhibition, please see below How to Apply.

Individual artists working to a professional standard in photography, digital arts, or contemporary approaches to media such as painting, printmaking and drawing, are invited to apply.

  • We regret we cannot currently show 3D work unless it can be safely wall-mounted or displayed in one of our external courtyard gardens (not in the Gallery).
  • For details of our policy on suitable imagery, content and materials for health & safety please download the PDF below, under 'How to Apply'.
  • We can offer group or themed shows.
  • We can loan frames and provide publicity within the hospital.
  • It is estimated that up to 45,000 people see each exhibition.

Information about the programme and how to apply will be available by March 2015.

Volunteer Musicians

We would like to hear from singers and musicians with a repertoire of popular songs from the first half of the 20th Century, to volunteer to perform or to lead singing activities with older patients during weekdays in the early afternoon. We welcome occasional or regular volunteers who have their own acoustic instruments.

You do not need to be a professional musician as long as you have experience of performing to a public performance standard. Volunteers must be aged 18 or over. Introductory Sessions will be provided as well as Public Liability Insurance whilst on site, for regular volunteers registering with Voluntary Services. You will require a Disclosure and Barring Service certificate (DBS) which can be applied for through the L&GNHST Voluntary Services department without charge, if you are intending to be a long-term volunteer.

Please note evening and weekend performances are not possible except sometimes near Christmas, possibly accompanying carol singing with the Chaplains.

To apply please contact us with details of your experience, musical genres and instruments played and your availability.

Volunteer artists and designer-makers

There are opportunities for artists and designer-makers to gain experience of working with patients in healthcare setting, on a regular or short-term project basis. You will require a Disclosure and Barring Service certificate (DBS) which can be applied for through the L&GNHST Voluntary Services department without charge if you are intending to be a long-term volunteer.

There are currently no opportunities for interns.
